Flatulence

Flatulence!! Flatulence – what a big word for a fart! That is what I had always thought till I read what it could do. It is considered polite to light a match after passing gas. Not while on a plane. An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing Monday morning after a passenger lit a match to disguise the scent of flatulence, authorities said. The Dallas-bound flight was diverted to Nashville after several passengers reported smelling burning sulfur from the matches, said Lynne Lowrance, spokeswoman for the Nashville International Airport Authority. All 99 passengers and five crew members were taken off and screened while the plane was searched and luggage was screened. The above news appeared all over. All newspapers and channels carried it. Wow! How vain can women be?! The best part is that she was not charged but could have been. While it is legal to bring as many as four books of paper safety matches onto an aircraft, it is illegal to strike a match in an airplane, Lowrance a spokeswoman for the Nashville International Airport Authority, said. Strange – then why are you allowed to carry those matches? Can happen only in America?! Wonder if now the airlines should start a ‘Farting zone’ to replace ‘Smoking zone’! Can imagine the scenes at the check-in counters when the airline agent will ask the passenger the choice of seat! Or if you are one of the last few checking in and the only seats available are in the ‘Farting section’! The possibilities are endless! Then maybe you will find airlines advertising ‘Fart free’ sectors that they fly on! American has banned her for a long time, Lowrance said. Poor woman. She can’t fly American now and has to rely on her own gas. Wonder if she will sue the airline for discrimination. Can the airline ban her just because of a lousy fart?! Or is it just a lot of hot air? Am sure the staff manning the ‘flight information’ lines must have had a torrid time explaining to callers the reason for the delayed flight. Whatever, it sure is unfair to the person who claims to have an unspecified medical condition.

  2. If my ticket were to get downgraded to the farting zone...

Well, I'd be more than a little pissed off. ;)

  3. I don't understand this. Airplanes are so noisy, with so much air blowing all about, that it's the best place in the world to fart without being detected.

    I'm serious! Try it! ;)
